IKEA takes a historic look at food posts

A new commercial from Swedish home furnishings behemoth IKEA is transferring social media food posts to pre-revolutionary France, reports ad-industry trade mag Campaign, urging people to focus on eating together rather than spreading images of their food. In a pre-digital take on mealtime facebook posting, servants are seen scurrying around to squares and salons showing a painting of a recent meal for approval.

The ad, called ‘Let’s Relax’ was fuelled by insight from IKEA’s latest “Life At Home” consumer research. According to the report, people were worried about how their home – and food – ‘should’ be on social media vs reality. Better to relax and enjoy yourself…
